Jayne Mansfield "Too Hot To Handle" - CD - Angled Doors Review

 Jayne was the hottest thing to come out of Hollywood in the 50's and 60's. A lot of comparisons fell between her and Marilyn, but Jayne was always the one for me. This cd has her singing (also a lot like Monroe) a few hits from some of her films like "Too Hot To Handle" (Album's title track) and "Heimweh Nach St Pauli". German has never sounded so sexy. This compilation also includes an interview and a segment from the Jack Benny Show. 12 tracks in all. Definitely worth checking out.

 "Fear is not created, it's sewn in", that's the tagline for this little okie terror. Basic plot... a bunch of friends meet up at a house in the woods and get picked off one by one in B-Movie slasher style. The killer in this flick is a sick little hillbilly that takes to sewing buttons into his skin every time he does the dead.

 More comedy than horror this flicks got a bevy of dumb bitches waiting to die, dumbass stoners and over-the-top hillbillies that don't believe in bathing. The only thing it's lacking in is the blood and the boobs. They definitly could have upped the gore factor, but it still doesn't detract from an entertaining film. Don't quite understand how this is an "unrated" version though.

 DVD Extra's include music videos by Radioradio & Darkset Theory, bloopers, photo gallery, making of featurette & a digital comic book of Carthage, the short film that became Stitcher. Commentary can be found in the set-up menu.

Out Of The Night (2009)

 The story involves a group of teens going up to a cabin in Sulphur for the weekend. The way it starts you feel you're in for the basic un-imaginative teen slasher plot, then... unexpectedly in the night, it takes a twist for something a little different. Russia starts dropping newly developed chem-bombs on all the major U.S. cities. Should they stay out in the boonies? Go out for help and find a community center with other survivors? A militant survival nut breaks in and attacks the group helping them make their decision. They hit the road looking for shelter while witnessing the devastation from the fallout along the way.

 Now, everyone knows I have a huge hard-on for low/no-budget horror/sci-fi films, especially ones filmed and based in Oklahoma. So it's already hard not to give this a good rating, but it really is deserving compared to some of the crap I've seen recently.  Well filmed in digital, it actually looks like a real movie, unlike a lot of the films I've watched as of late. The quality of this is scores above the rest I've seen from the area. It has a descent script and more-or-less some decent acting. Enough back-story to make you give a shit for the characters, but not so much to bore me to sleep. I'll be honest... I'm really digging the story line. From time to time I wanted to smash a beer bottle over the face of actor Bloomstadt, but after a while it grows on you. A little bit of quicker editing in the beginning conversations would have been nice, but in spite of it's limitations this has become one of my favorite Okla. films to date!
